Toyota recalls more than 44 thousand cars due to problems with the power plantFebruary 20, 2020
In the revocable campaign, models RAV4, Camry, Avalon and Lexus ES300H participate.
Toyota has launched a massive recall campaign for its cars. Diagnostics and subsequent repairs will be necessary for 44 thousand cars of the Japanese brand. The problem is a potential crack in the engine, as a result of which oil or antifreeze can cause the engine to stop or even catch fire. This problem arose due to a manufacturing error. Note that the recall will affect new cars that rolled off the assembly line from September to December 2019. We are talking about Toyota Camry models, including a hybrid version of the car, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Avalon, as well as the Lexus ES300H.
All these cars are equipped with a 2.5-liter engine. The same models, but with other engine options are not subject to recall.
Theoretically, the owners of such cars themselves could suspect a problem – the main symptoms are increased engine noise, its overheating and even possible smoke. Toyota has already announced that they expect confirmation of the defect in 250 out of 44,000 thousand cars. The rest is likely to be limited to diagnostics. In the event of a malfunction, repair work will be carried out free of charge.
