Toyota announced its sales, production and export results for June this year, as well as cumulative results for the first half of 2020.
Sales last month recovered to 84% from last year, the press center of the auto concern reported on Thursday, July 30. Sales in the PRC increased year on year for three consecutive months, while sales in the European car market decreased by about 11.5%.
In Japan, sales began to recover to 77.3% from June due to the lifting of restrictive measures that lasted from April 7 to May 31. At the same time, sales fell 31% between April and June.
Last month, production recovered to 76% from last year (output fell 50.8% in April and 54.4% in May). The main drivers of the increase were the PRC (April: an increase of 27.8%; May: an increase of 13.5%; June: an increase of 21.6%), North America (April: production is suspended; May: a drop of 78.5% ; June: fall by 8.4%) and Europe (April: decline by 99.2%; in May – by 59.9%; in June – by 3.9%).
The RAV4 became the most popular Toyota model in the first half of 2020. Its worldwide sales were approximately 426,000 units. This model sold the largest circulation in North America and the PRC, where approximately 72,000 cars were sold, which is 15% higher than in 2019.
In addition, it was recently noted that Toyota has become the most valuable car brand in the world. It should be emphasized that the Japanese automobile concern is in the ranking of the most expensive brands in the world between Mcdonald’s ($ 46.3 billion, + 5%) and Intel ($ 39.5 billion, + 2%).
