Toyota plans to revive the coupe MR2December 12, 2018
To implement this project, the Japanese brand is going to enlist the support of Subaru. This information has not yet received official confirmation, but experts believe that the appearance of the Toyota MR2 in the model range of the brand is a matter of time.
Toyota is going to unite with Subaru in order to jointly bring to the market the Toyota MR2 coupe, whose story began in the mid-80s. In the summer of 2007, the release of the elegant sports car stopped, and so far there has been no serious talk about its possible “revival”. The other day, information appeared on the Web that after successful cooperation with Subaru and BMW in the business of “reanimation” of Supra and GT86 models, the Japanese automaker plans to continue the experiment begun.
There are no technical details, nor is there any official confirmation of this fact: for now, car experts are content with only vague hints.
In this case, experts suggest that the next generation of the MR2 can get a new 2.4-liter engine, which is currently being developed by Toyota and Subaru for the GT86 / BRZ model.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the Mitsubishi company plans to revive Mirage and Lance.
