Toyota opens pre-order for special versions of GR YarisJanuary 10, 2020
This is a special edition of the “charged” hatchback called RZ “First Edition”, as well as the special version of RZ “High-performance First Edition”.
The Toyota GR Yaris hot hatch debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. The novelty will appear on sale this summer, but for now, the manufacturer has opened accepting orders for two special versions of Yaris with the abbreviation RZ. Acceptance of pre-orders will stretch for almost six months – from January to June. Recall, Toyota hired Tommi Mäkinen Racing 5 specialists to work on the GR Yaris hatchback. The model designed for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing sports car line was developed from scratch. It is based on the 4WD sports platform based on the TNGA architecture.
The novelty received a body of increased rigidity, a sports all-wheel drive system GR-FOUR, as well as upgraded front and rear suspensions. Among the materials used to create the model are aluminum (for example, a hood and trunk lid are made of it) and plastic reinforced with carbon fiber. All this allows the car to maintain lightness, despite the robust three-door cab.
Under the hood of the hot hatch is a 1.6-liter inline three-cylinder turbo engine with direct fuel injection, delivering 272 hp. The engine is paired with the iMT in six stages (intelligent manual tranmission).
For the release of new items, a special production line was created at the brand’s factory in Motomati. Recall that this company has quite a wealth of experience in the production of sports cars.
The RZ “First Edition” special version is based on the GR Yaris RZ, differing from the standard hatchback by a modified grille, other front side diffusers, as well as a new spoiler and rear bumper. The manufacturer has highlighted the exterior changes with a matte black color. Modifications RZ “High-performance First Edition” also went forged wheels BBS 18 inches.
