Toyota Land Cruiser may lose its V8 enginesFebruary 12, 2019
Instead, they expect the appearance of a turbocharged V6, and instead of an 8-speed automatic will appear 10-speed. The car is expected to enter the market next year, but the finished version may be shown at the Tokyo International Motor Show next autumn.
The source of information regarding the Toyota Land Cruiser and its premium version of the Lexus LX was the Japanese edition of Best Car, known for its ambiguous, but sometimes appearing truthful, statements. It is argued that one of the most notable innovations will be the refusal of an 8-cylinder gasoline engine. Under the hood, the 5.7-liter V8 will be replaced by a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. “Automatic” will get two more steps and their number will reach 10.
Land Cruiser will retain its frame structure and high off-road qualities, but much will be done to improve the economy and convenience of urban use. In particular, the SUV will receive the latest versions of Toyota Safety Sense complex systems, among which are pedestrian detection systems at night and automatic collision avoidance if the driver does not take action to change the speed and trajectory.
Simultaneously with the Land Cruiser, the Lexus LX is also being developed, but there is less information about it. It is known that the company plans to make special efforts in order to distance the Land Cruiser and Lexus LX from each other, however, due to what it is planned to do it – is unknown. Perhaps it will be about different salons, both in terms of design, and with regard to materials of decoration.
If the Best Car data is accurate, then the new Land Cruiser, which will replace the current model, produced from 2008, will be shown at the Tokyo Auto Show in the fall.
