Toyota is working on a new generation of Land CruiserAugust 23, 2018
Since then, Toyota has introduced a new generation of the Land Cruiser SUV in the body of the J200, more than ten years have passed. Yes, the model received restyling in 2012 and 2015, but time is running out, competitors are advancing, and the company is actively working on a new generation of the car.
According to the Indian portal Indianautosblog, referring to the Japanese colleagues, the car as a whole will retain its dimensions: its length will reach 4 950 mm, width 1 970 mm (-10 mm compared to the current model), and the wheelbase will remain at the level of 2 850 mm. As for the chassis, it will remain framed, but its design will radically change: apparently, it will be stronger and lighter than the previous one.
Rigid environmental regulations, according to Japanese publications, will force Toyota to abandon the heavy and gluttonous V8 engines. They should be replaced by turbocharged engines in the V6 configuration and their hybrid versions. The basis should be a turbo-charged V35A-FTS unit with a capacity of 3.5 liters with a return of 415 hp and 600 Nm of torque, which is installed under the hood of the “fresh” sedan LS. He will work with the brand-new automatic transmission Direct Shift for ten speeds.
The hybrid version can be represented by a 3.5-liter engine, the 8GR-FXS with a combined output of 354 horsepower, and we should not exclude the version of the off-roader with the “evil” atmospheric 2GR-FKS volume 3.5 liters, which develops an impressive 318 hp. The same motors are equipped with sedans GS and LS.
The presentation of an off-road car can take place already at the end of next year, in the summer of 2020 it should appear at dealers.
