Toyota is testing a new sports version of the YarisApril 29, 2019
The car was photographed during the tests at the Nurburgring. In some details it is easy to guess that the potential of the car will be noticeably higher than that of the standard version, however there is a possibility that it will be realized in the next generation.
It is noteworthy that for camouflaging the car, the company chose camouflage film similar to the one in which it had appeared for several months before the official premiere of Toyota Supra. This is a minor detail, but much more eloquent can be considered a well-marked intercooler barely placed in the lower part of the bumper, exhaust system with two exhaust pipes at the corners, as well as large-diameter disks and 5 bolts and low-profile tires.
These elements unambiguously hint at the sports version, but it is worth making a reservation that in the current generation, Yaris will certainly not get it. A generation change is scheduled for next year, for sure the company will not release such a version for such a short time before the end of production of the current model. In a photographed prototype, the body of the current generation can be “worn” on a new chassis. This is supported by the placement of the intercooler, which clearly does not fit behind the current bumper, and the new Yaris, which should go to the TNGA platform, is expected to be slightly larger than the current one.
Photo salon yet.
At the moment, the role of the sports version in the line is played by the Yaris GRMN. This modification is equipped with a 1.8-liter engine with a mechanical supercharger. Power – 209 hp (156 kW), torque – 250 Nm. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The drive is front, in the mandatory equipment includes a limited slip differential.
