Toyota is going to start production of Lexus in CanadaMay 3, 2019
Two models wearing the logo of the premium Japanese Lexus brand will be put on the conveyor of the Toyota plant in Cambridge after three years.
Toyota Motor in the 2022nd launch of the production of Lexus NX and Lexus NX hybrid crossovers at one of its Canadian plants. It is known that we are talking about an enterprise in Cambridge. Recall, the Lexus NX crossover has its history since 2014, all this time the Japanese factory Toyota in Miyavaka was engaged in the release of the model. The “relocation” of the model was made possible by solid investments that Toyota did not regret for its factories in Cambridge and Woodstock.
So, in May last year, Toyota reported an investment whose amount reached 1.4 billion Canadian dollars. In parallel, the Canadian government spoke about its desire to invest 110 million Canadian dollars in these plants.
Toyota Motor cars were manufactured in Canada back in 1985. Today, Lexus RX and Toyota RAV4 crossovers are produced here. These enterprises employ over 8,500 workers.
At the same time, individual automakers adhere to the opposite development strategy, reducing their production capacity in Canada. For example, in the near future, the FCA group will abandon one shift at its plant in Windsor, reducing the order of a thousand professionals. American General Motors will close the plant in Oshawa by the end of this year.
