Toyota invests heavily in artificial intelligence and roboticsMarch 8, 2021
The Japanese automaker Toyota, in addition to constant rivalry with its main competitors in the global car market, manages to develop in other areas. So, in recent years, the Japanese have begun to show an increased interest in robotics and artificial intelligence.
The Toyota Venture Fund, which manages $ 200 million, has so far invested various amounts in 36 young but promising companies. All of them specialize in a variety of activities: from autonomous control technologies to the development of aircraft, writes Reuters.
By investing in robotics, Toyota plans to take its manufacturing facilities to a whole new level of automation. Also, innovative developments in this direction will help the brand to establish the use of so-called cloud systems: thanks to them, robots, commas in production, will be able to exchange learned skills among themselves.
Recall that the Toyota venture fund is quite independent in terms of making decisions where to invest money.
In 2021, the automaker opened another fund called Woven Capital with a capital of about $ 800 million.
His main area of interest is drones and everything connected with them.
Earlier it became known that the Chinese drone EHang flew over Beijing. Note that the vehicle’s speed was close to 100 km / h, and it was able to overcome 32 kilometers.
