The American division of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing has patented a system for recharging electric vehicles from a generator with a pedal drive. Such a decision is planned to be used in autonomous taxis. This is reported by AutoGuide.

Using a pedal unit, drones can stay on the line longer and less often go to the charging station. To stimulate passengers to recharge their batteries is assumed by reducing the cost of travel in proportion to the generated energy.

Last year, Toyota offered to use a sophisticated mirror system to make the front pillars “transparent” for the driver, and also patented a special tray that would not lose small objects under the seats of the car.

Previously, Ford described the concept of an unmanned vehicle with a cylindrical cabin, similar to a carousel. According to the manufacturer, in the center of the passenger compartment there is a table around which chairs are located. In this case, the floor can be rotated relative to the base of the machine.

In 2015, Ford patented several configurations of autonomous vehicles: with a transformable sofa and armchairs, partially retractable into the front panel.
