Toyota Gazoo Racing announces cars for the Dakar RallyNovember 14, 2020
Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced its own lineup for the 2021 Dakar Rally.
Recall that the rally is to take place on January 3 next year in Saudi Arabia. The Japanese racing team will include four crews, each driving the latest generation of the Toyota Hilux pickup.
The pickups designed for rallying are equipped with a modified 5.0-liter V8 naturally aspirated power unit, an upgraded independent suspension and an all-wheel drive system. In addition, racing cars have undergone some external changes.
It is worth mentioning that the Toyota Hilux is a mid-size pickup, the simplicity of which, meaning the presence of a frame structure, a longitudinal position of the motor, a connected all-wheel drive, contributed to its immense popularity in the global market. There are currently eight generations of the vehicle. In 2017, international automotive experts recognized this Japanese model as the best pickup of the year.
In addition, it was recently noted that the Toyota Crown could transform from a sedan into an SUV. It should be emphasized that the presentation of the current generation of this model by the Japanese automaker took place the year before last.
