Toyota electric cars will be equipped with Chinese batteriesJuly 18, 2019
This will contribute to the agreement signed between the Japanese automaker and the Chinese company CATL. It is known that their cooperation will not be limited to the supply of batteries for electric cars.
The Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) and Toyota Motor have signed an agreement on the supply and joint development of batteries for environmentally friendly cars. The Japanese side expects such a tandem of stable and timely supply of components, as well as fruitful cooperation in a number of areas. This is not only the development of new technologies and product development, but also work on the reuse and recycling of batteries.
CATL – not the only manufacturer with which Toyota collaborates in this area. The company also uses BYD products, and plans to build a joint battery manufacturing plant with Panasonic. A few years ago, Toyota and Tesla signed a cooperation agreement. The companies have teamed up to create an electric car RAV4 EV.
By the way, as predicted by Toyota itself, by the year 2025, half of the company’s global sales will come from electrified cars. This is five years ahead of existing plans.
