Toyota Corolla will turn into a “charged” hatchbackFebruary 12, 2020
According to Auto Express, Toyota is developing a productive version of the Corolla hatchback for the European market.
It is known that the creation of a “pumped” version of the Toyota Corolla hatchback will be handled by the sports division of Toyota Gazoo Racing. The car will be equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine from the three-door model GR Yaris. The engine will produce 250 horsepower. As a transmission they will offer exclusively a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Compared with the “charged” Toyota GR Yaris model, which has an all-wheel drive system and two “self-blocks” in front and behind, the Corolla hatchback will receive only front-wheel drive. It is also reported that the productive version of the GR Corolla will be focused on everyday driving, and not on competition. The main rivals of the “charged” hatchback will be the Ford Focus ST and Hyundai i30 N. It is planned that the new product will appear on the European market closer to 2023.
