Japanese corporation Toyota demonstrated an all-wheel drive variation of the updated Camry model. The novelty will be offered only in the Japanese car market, and it also received a rear electric motor that helps the ICE during start on slippery surfaces.
Toyota Camry for the Japanese market has a hybrid power unit consisting of a 2.5-liter atmospheric engine and an electric motor. The total capacity of the installation is 211 hp.
The all-wheel drive version of the e-Four is additionally equipped with another electric motor, but it is located on the rear axle. The similar Camry develops 218 hp.
The sedan is primarily aimed at customers from northern or mountainous Japanese regions, for this reason the four-wheel drive is activated only at start and is deactivated after reaching a speed of 10 km / h.
It should be emphasized that the floor level of the luggage compartment for installing the battery had to be raised and thereby reduced its volume from 524 to 480 liters. At the same time, the vehicle’s clearance increased from 145 to 155 mm. In Japan, Camry sales with the e-Four system will begin in mid-December. At the same time, it is assumed that later the car can go on sale in other countries where hybrid versions are available.
In addition, Toyota previously announced prices for the Camry 2020 in the powerful TRD version for the US market.
