Kia Motors America manager Steve Kosowski spoke in an interview with Auto Express about a new electric car codenamed CV based on the Imagine concept car.
The new model, as noted by the manager, will be released in 2021. The basis of the cross will be the architecture of E-GMP, which was specially developed by Hyundai Motor Group for electric cars.
As reported on Monday, April 27, this platform will make it possible to make machines of wide personalization in technical terms, since it involves the installation of batteries of various capacities.
Currently, new technologies make it possible to equip the cross with an electric system of 800 volts. Such a battery can be recharged in 20 minutes thanks to a quick charger. The power reserve of the car will be approximately 500 km.
The novelty, for sure, will be developed on the basis of the prototype Imagine by Kia. The latter is positioned by the Korean corporation as a model that can break the boundaries between cars, SUVs and crossovers. In addition to the American car market, the new electric car will be available in Europe.
It should be noted that Kia is going to invest $ 25 billion in the production of electric cars by 2025. Then on the market will appear 11 models with electric and hybrid engines.
