Tires sport prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid allowed on vinyl records
February 19, 2019They recorded 24 stories about the participation of Porsche in the “24 hours of Le Mans”
The last set of tires Leman sport prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid used to create 200 vinyl records. Each of them recorded 24 stories about the participation of Porsche in the “24 hours of Le Mans” and at the end of this month will put up at a charity auction.
The original racing slices were first cut, then crushed and pressed into vinyl. The sound grooves were made on one side of the plate, the surface of the other was left untouched, like a real tire. Wolfgang Porsche, Chad McQueen and the two-time winner of the marathon Hans-Joachim Stuck shared their stories about Le Mans for a special edition of The 24 Minutes of Le Mans.
February 24, all 200 copies will be exhibited at a charity auction. The proceeds from the sale of records means Porsche will give the French organization Loisirs Pluriel, which helps children with disabilities.
In 2017, Porsche celebrated its 19th victory in the “24 Hours of Le Mans”. The team completed the marathon with three victories in a row – the 919 Hybrid was the fastest in 2015, 2016 and 2017. After the completion of a sports career, the hybrid set an absolute record for the Nurburgring, driving the track in 5 minutes 19.546 seconds.
