Three prototypes Alfa Romeo and Bertone will be auctionedOctober 18, 2020
Three prototypes of the Alfa Romeo brand and the Bertone studio from the mid-1950s will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s at the end of October.
Cars that have been consistently demonstrated at auto shows in various years will be sold in one lot. The estimated price is $ 14-20 million.
First of all, the specialists, developing the prototypes of the Berlinetta Aerodynamica Technica (B.A.T.) – 5, 7 and 9, thought about aerodynamics, this explains the original body parts and the shape of the cars in general. The 2-door 5, which debuted in 1953, has a drag coefficient of 0.23, while the B.A.T. 7 1954 this figure dropped to 0.19.
The next concept, which was shown in 1955, received more similarities to the production car than the first copies. B.A.T. 9 got a branded Alfa Romeo grille and standard headlights, as well as a side rearview mirror. All prototypes are based on the 1900 Sprint model.
All three cars were first shown together at the Pebble Beach Elegance Contest 31 years ago. Soon after, the cars were owned by a collector.
