This is what a brand new Mercedes SL-class might look likeOctober 13, 2020
A render of a completely new generation of the German Mercedes-Benz SL-class roadster has appeared on the Web. The virtual novelty has received a convertible roof with a soft top. The new SL-Class will debut next year.
It has long been known that the German brand is in full swing on a new generation of the SL-class roadster. More recently, our editorial staff has got exclusive visualizations showing what the long-awaited novelty might look like.
The independent artist presented his vision of the car, and as a basis for his project, he used many “spy” shots of prototypes of the new SL-class, which were seen on public roads.
The new SL is being developed by the sports division of Mercedes-AMG, so the car on the render has a Panamericana false radiator grille with vertical slats, a sports front bumper, red brake calipers and a V8 Biturbo emblem on the fender grille.
We don’t yet know exactly what engine this version of the roadster might use. It is rumored to be a 720bhp V8, which is also used in the powerful Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series coupe. Alternatively, the brand’s engineers can opt for a hybrid engine based on a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
Daimler chief designer Gorden Wagener says the new generation of the roadster will be similar in appearance to the iconic Mercedes 300 SL. The new SL-Class will debut at some point in 2021. Most likely, it will go on sale in late 2021 or early 2022.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Mercedes-Benz is going to create a new class of cars. The new car segment already has a name – SUL. The abbreviation stands for Sport Utility Limousine.
