This is the prototype of the most powerful version of the Mercedes-AMG GT coupe.August 21, 2019
Journalists from foreign media captured the next prototype of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series, which will be the most powerful and fastest performance sports coupe. Presentation of new items is scheduled for next year.
The prototype of the long-awaited German news was seen on the German Nurburgring race track. Last week we published news about the test car of the new Mercedes-AMG GT R in camouflage and a crazy hood with several large air vents. Today we again have something to share with you – this time at the same Nurburgring a prototype of the most powerful version of the German coupe was captured, we are talking about the GT R Black Series.
What happened to the massive rear spoiler on the trunk lid? This is definitely not what we saw with previous Black Series prototypes. On the front panel there are several adjustable winglets, which we also have not seen before. Another interesting addition is the air vents in the front wings, which look exactly the same as in the current AMG GT R Pro. As for the back of the prototype, it can hardly be called completely ready to start production.
Does Mercedes test different airframes for the Black Series? Maybe.
In any case, we know that the sports coupe in the performance of the Black Series should be very fast, because, according to rumors, the GT R will have a capacity of more than 700 horsepower. It seems that the guys from Affalterbach, and it is there that the headquarters of the German brand is located, have full confidence that their car will bypass the Porsche 911 GT2 RS – a car that can go through the Nurburgring circle in just 6 minutes 40 seconds. Under the hood may be a 4.0-liter Twin-Turbo V8 AMG. But a well-thought-out aerodynamic body kit should help the fastest version of the German coupe to better go through complex high-speed turns of the race track and thereby reduce the total lap time.
We need to wait a little longer to find out how fast the new Mercedes-AMG GT R Black can move. The official presentation of the new items should take place sometime in 2020.
