The masters completely restored the old Jaguar E-Type (1964 Series 1 3.8 FHC), which has stood in the garage for the past 40 years.
The British company E-Type UK is one of the leading specialists in the restoration of antique cars. Not so long ago, these guys completed the full restoration of the Jaguar E-Type coupe (1964 Series 1 3.8 FHC), which was produced back in 1979.
After intensive sandblasting of the body elements and a three-day disassembly and assembly of these same elements, all traces of the machine’s downtime were removed – it stood in the garage for 40 years.
E-Type UK repaired the car by identifying and replacing failed components and assemblies that were too rotten for their subsequent operation – many areas of the floor, as well as internal and external thresholds, were replaced. The body was further reinforced in other places, so that the whole car was more rigid than ever.
The car body was painted in Opalescent Silver Blue, and the leather in the cabin got a shade of Oxblood Red.
After assembling the car on a movable chassis, the British E-Type team began work on improving productivity and ease of further use of the machine. The standard 3.8-liter engine was equipped with high-lift cams, a balanced and lightweight crank and new seals, as well as a new five-speed transmission for faster shifts, a more efficient stainless steel exhaust system and an aluminum radiator. A collector tank was installed for intensive cooling.
“Such a recovery is a real challenge for our team; 40 years of inaction cause enormous damage to every single part of the car, ”said E-Type UK founder Markus Holland.
