Thirty-year-old Aston Martin without a roof estimated at half a million dollarsAugust 1, 2018
The British dealer of classic cars Hexagon Classics put up for sale the open Aston Martin Volante Zagato. In the second half of the eighties there were only 37 such machines. For a rare sports car asking for 345 thousand pounds sterling
Aston Martin has been cooperating with the Zagato ateliers since the sixties – the Italians built light and elegant bodies for road and racing sports cars. The angular coupe and V8 Zagato cabriolets were produced from 1986 to 1990 in a very limited edition: 52 cars with a closed body were assembled and 37 with an open car. And the car that Hexagon Classics offers is even rarer: it’s one of 12 convertible with right-hand drive.

At the heart of the model V8 Zagato was the chassis of the outdated sports car Aston Martin V8 model 1969, which was produced until 1989. From it, the V8 5.3 engine with 420 horsepower of the Tadeusz Marek design (with a pair of Weber carburetors or, later, the injection system) was also borrowed.
The red coupe V8 Zagato with the engine forced to 482 forces for a long time belonged to actor Rowan Atkinson. A comedian, known for his role as Mr. Bean, appeared on it in amateur racing. In 2008, Atkinson sold it at auction for 122,800 pounds.
