The crossover Kia Soul received two new versions: GT-Line and X-Line

Kia unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show the Soul new, third generation crossover. The model has changed the platform and is available in new versions of the GT-Line and X-Line, as well as with an electric power plant. In a pair of new two-liter engine Soul for the first time proposed smart IVT variator from Kia Forte / Cerato.

After the generation change, the Kia Soul slightly increased in size: +55.9 millimeters to the length and 30.5 millimeters to the wheelbase. The width and height of the crossover remained unchanged. At the same time, the reserve of space in the legs of the rear passengers and over the front head decreased by 7.62 and 5.08 millimeters, respectively. Trunk volume has grown by 141.6 liters and now stands at 673.9 liters.

Appearance Soul has become more futuristic, although the crossover has retained the silhouette of its predecessor. Among the features: a complex configuration of head optics with a narrow strip of daytime running lights across the entire width of the car, “three-dimensional” taillights – “boomerangs”, rear pillars in the shape of an airplane wing and a new element that visually combines the side glazing with the tailgate.

The range of engines of the new Soul consists of a two-liter engine with a capacity of 149 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque. It can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an IVT variator with adaptive switching logic and a soundproof casing. Also, the crossover can be equipped with a 1.6 T-GDi turbo engine from the model of the previous generation, issuing 204 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque. In a pair he will be offered a seven-speed robotized gearbox with two clutches.

In the Soul family there is a version with an electric power plant. This car is equipped with a 204-horsepower electric motor (395 Nm) and a battery pack with a capacity of 64 kilowatt-hours. The power reserve of the electrocross is not reported, but the Kia Niro EV with a similar installation travels up to 484 kilometers in a WLTP cycle.

The new GT-Line design provides for a “sporty” design of the front and rear parts, 18-inch wheels painted in black gloss of the side mirror housings, steering wheel and gearshift selector leather. For the “off-road” X-Line proposed kit from unpainted plastic in a circle, fog lights, roof rails and two-tone body paint for an extra charge.

The Kia Soul equipment includes background lighting with a choice of “mood”, a multimedia system with a 10.25-inch display, an 8-inch projection display, a Harman Kardon audio system with 10 speakers and a subwoofer, as well as a wide list of active security systems.
