There were details about the “charged” performance of Toyota Corolla GRMNFebruary 23, 2019
A more powerful version of the Japanese hatchback will not receive a hybrid installation, as previously assumed.
After a lot of rumors, “proven” facts around the Toyota Corolla GRMN – a more powerful version of the Japanese 5-door hatchback, the deputy chief designer of Toyota decided to bring some clarity. So, the long-awaited novelty from the sports division of the automaker should appear in the very near future – work is under way. It is reported that the car will not receive a hybrid power plant, which in turn contradicts most previous assumptions.
“At the moment we are studying what will be most effective for the European market, but there is no doubt that Corolla GRMN will be represented,” said a company spokesman.
“We are already working on this project. Development is conducted under the supervision of Toyota Gazoo Racing, the sports division of the brand. This department has included Corolla GRMN in the future plan, but for now the project is still at the planning stage. ” He also hinted that the car could get a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, indicating that such an installation “may be interesting.”
Kanei says that the Corolla GRMN should be introduced during the production cycle of the current generation of the model. He assumes that the development of the chassis for this car should be a fairly quick process, but more time is needed to design the powertrain. Toyota intends to evaluate every market around the world in order to decide where it will be profitable for them to start selling Toyota Corolla GRMN.
