The designers of Carscoops have developed a new generation Kia Sportage render.
Judging by the illustration, the new Sportagewill receive a completely new front part with a branded “tiger nose” grille, headlights of an unusual shape and an original hood. In turn, the rest of the body is relatively simple. As for the stern, thin horizontal LED lights, a spoiler, hidden exhaust pipes and a mesh insert on the lower bumper area are expected.
According to assumptions, the new Sportage will acquire a rich interior equipment and, for the first time, a 7-seater version. And it is also expected that the new Sportage will be the first to receive the Nvidia Drive platform, which will combine audiovisual, navigation and communication services. In addition, the updated model should be equipped with a digital instrument panel and interior lighting.
As for the technical equipment of the new Sportage, it will differ depending on the region. So, in Europe and Asia, the model will appear with a hybrid power unit based on a 226-horsepower 1.6-liter turbo engine and a 177-horsepower plug-in hybrid with a 13.8 kW / h battery and an electric motor that will provide a range of up to 45 km. These power plants will replace current diesel engines. These units will work with a completely new 6-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive as standard.
In North America, the updated Sportage will be offered with a 2.5-liter 187-horsepower petrol engine, which can function with front-wheel drive by default and full optional, as well as an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The competitors of the upcoming new Sportage are Ford Escape / Kuga, Honda CR-V, Chevrolet Equinox, Nissan Rogue / X-Trail, Toyota RAV4, Subaru Forester, Mazda CX-5, Skoda Karoq, Seat Ateca, Volkswagen Tiguan, Peugeot 3008 and Hyundai Tucson. Speaking of the premiere date of the new Sportage, it should debut in April next year, and sales will begin before the end of 2021.
In addition, it was recently noted that the South Korean company Kia has demonstrated off-road modifications of the updated Sorento. It should be emphasized that the new items of the Korean brand are designed for driving in mountains and deserts.
