There is a photo of the rear door of the new Ford Maverick pickupJuly 21, 2020
A photo has appeared on the web showing the back door of a new compact truck from Ford. The novelty, which will appear in 2021, will be sold under the revived Maverick name.
A couple of minutes ago, a photo appeared on the forums that showed a white tailgate, which looks much smaller than on a full-size F-150 pickup truck or a mid-size Ranger. The word Maverick is engraved on this door. It is noteworthy that in May of this year, we published a render of the tailgate of a new compact pickup from Ford and it is very similar to this photo.
Officials from the American automaker declined to comment in any way on a real shot of a pickup tailgate bearing the Maverick name.
We have already seen “spy” photos from tests of a prototype of a new product from Ford more than once. As reported by our insiders, this model will be based on the existing version of the Focus model. The pickup is expected to use the powerplant from the revived Bronco Sport SUV – either a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. In the Bronco Sport, all the power from the engine went to the standard all-wheel-drive system, but it is doubtful that a compact truck could get such a layout.
Ford confirmed that the small pickup was in development back in 2019, and most recently the automaker said the pickup will debut in 2021.
