There are spy shots of the updated Mercedes-AMG G-Class 4 × 4²July 17, 2020
Carscoops has released spy shots of the Mercedes-AMG G-Class 4 × 4² concept with almost no camouflage.
Common photos allow you to see the model in detail. Judging by the photographs, the prototype has portal axles and massive wheels that provide high ground clearance. Disguise can only be seen on the front and rear logos. It is worth noting that Mercedes-Benz is going to build an updated 4×4² based on the latest generation G-Class.
The novelty, in particular, strongly resembles its predecessor, with the exception of LED headlights, lanterns and a redesigned interior. In addition, you can notice that the test concept has a massive roof rack with two integrated LED panels at the front, a spare wheel at the rear and much more.
In addition, the updated G-Class 4×4² will receive very wide wheel arches, side steps, and also modified front and rear bumpers. It is currently unknown whether the German manufacturer will continue to label the SUV as G500 4×4² in Europe and G550 4×4² in North America, or designate the model as Mercedes-AMG G63 4×4² for all markets without exception.
Although there is no official word about the new engine at the moment, it is assumed that it will get a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, like most Mercedes-AMG models at the moment. That said, it is unclear whether the performance of the power plant will change. For example, on the current model, the unit produces 416 hp. and 610 Nm of torque.
