The world car market showed growth in January 2021February 14, 2021
Positive dynamics was recorded for the first time in several months. Sales of cars in China played a decisive role in this.
Experts have released data on global car sales in January 2021. A total of 6 million 661 thousand new cars were purchased, which is 1.9% better than a year ago. China continues to occupy the leading position – in January, 2 million 413 thousand new cars were sold, which corresponds to an increase in demand by 27.2% at once. At the same time, the positive dynamics of sales to China has been noted for the ninth month in a row.
Traditionally, the second largest market was the American market – dealers in the United States were able to sell 1,093 thousand new cars (-3.1%). But in Western Europe, the situation is much worse – 879.3 thousand cars sold. Due to restrictions on coronavirus, the decline in sales here was 24.4%.
In the countries of Eastern Europe, a total of 251 thousand new cars were sold (-6.2%). The South American market is gradually recovering, where 210.3 thousand cars were sold, which is only 7.7% less than last year.
We also note two Asian countries, where sales show positive dynamics – in Japan, 378.8 thousand cars (+ 6.3%) were sold, and in South Korea, dealers sold 135 thousand copies (+ 18.3%).
