The world car market in September this year increased by 0.5% to 7.647 million passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. From January to September 2020, sales in the world amounted to 54 million units. (-19.4%). This information was shared by the consulting firm LMC Automotive.
The largest number of cars for the reporting period was sold in China with an indicator of 2.487 million units, which is 9.3% higher than last year’s result. American motorists purchased 1.337 million vehicles, up 4.4% from 2019.
The Western European car markets showed the result of 1.367 million cars (+ 1.3%). Car sales in Eastern Europe increased by 19.7% to 393.3 thousand units. In turn, in Russia the market increased by 3.4%, and in Turkey – by a significant 100%.
In the South American market, customers bought 231.5 thousand cars, which is 10.4% less than in 2019. Among the largest world car markets, in particular, one can note countries like Japan (463.4 thousand units, -14.4%), Canada (173.5 thousand units, + 3%) and South Korea (159 , 1 thousand units, + 21.5%).
