The web showed a futuristic NASA autonomous carAugust 25, 2020
Although the current US space program is not at all like a few decades ago, designer Alexander Imnadze Baldini has created rendered images of an astronaut transport van, or Astrovan, that could be used by NASA in the future.
At the height of the national space program, NASA used a dedicated van to transport astronauts from the office building to the launch pad before the flight. Inspired by this van, Baldini has created a modern van that certainly looks the part.
Perhaps the first thing that will impress you about a car is its size. With six axles, it is incredibly long and offers astronauts more than enough space. It also has a very intriguing design.
For example, at the front it has a thin windshield and three LED strips that act as headlights. It also lacks traditional doors, and instead has one large hatch on the side, which is designed to facilitate entry and exit. At the back there is a large window with an LED strip around it and an additional horizontal LED strip.
Unfortunately, we are unlikely to ever see a new Astrovan that looks like this. In fact, the last Astrovan was unveiled only last October by Boeing and Airstream. It is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and is very different from the modified motorhomes that were used in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.
