Due to the rather large demand for the German sports car Audi R8 and in particular for its version of the RW R8S, which was equipped with a rear-wheel drive, the new version of the model is also likely to be available with a drive to the rear axle. The official presentation of the long-awaited novelty should take place before the end of this year.

For some time, the management of the German brand Audi decided to suspend sales of rear-wheel drive versions of its sports car Audi R8. But according to the current information, such modifications of the model will again be available for purchase after the release of the updated Audi R8. The official presentation of the long-awaited novelty should take place before the end of this year. It is known that at present, the specialists of the automaker are analyzing all possible prospects for the revival of the RWS model.

Earlier, a total of 999 Audi R8 vehicles equipped with a drive to the rear axle came off Audi’s conveyors. According to marketing manager of the brand Linda Kurtz, in view of the fact that this kind of performance of the R8 model was very popular, the brand management seriously intends to continue selling it.

Linda Kurtz also noted that it is too early to say whether the rear-wheel-drive versions of the updated Audi R8 will be released in a limited edition, or they will be produced serially along with all-wheel drive models R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus.

Note that, apparently, the official presentation of the German sports coupe and the truth should be held in the very near future. Especially considering the fact that recently foreign media often publish photos of test prototypes of the novelty – only last week they got a disguised prototype Audi R8 Spyder. And this car almost did not wear camouflage. When reviewing images, you can see that the model has not undergone any major changes in the design of its exterior.

In the event that the guys from Audi still decide not to resurrect the rear-wheel drive R8 (RWS), they risk losing some of the potential customers, as fans of sports cars with rear-wheel drive will purchase the Italian sports car Lamborghini Huracan 580-2.
