The updated Acura MDX crossover appeared on patent imagesMay 4, 2020
Judging by the patent images of the premium Japanese crossover, which were published a couple of minutes ago, the Acura MDX 2021 model year to increase in size. The debut of new items is scheduled for this year.
A couple of days ago, images of the new Japanese sedan Acura TLX were published – earlier these “snapshots” were registered with the patent office. Now, we can see the version of the premium mid-size crossover MDX 2021 model year – this time we are dealing with the same patent images that were registered with the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union (EUIPO).
In fact, this is not a “first look” at two future Acura models, since images of the updated TLX and MDX unexpectedly appeared in the infotainment system of the compact crossover RDX almost a year ago.
Judging by these gray pictures of the Japanese novelty, the fourth-generation premium crossover will probably be larger in size than the current version of the model. The hood seems to have become longer, while the rear of the body also looks elongated.
“Spy” snapshots of the new product, taken in July 2019, showed a prototype crossover with two twin exhaust pipes, then we suggested that we have a more powerful Type S design. It is expected that there will be a new six-cylinder turbocharged engine connected to the hood all-wheel drive system SH-AWD. According to rumors, the new engine has a volume of 3.0 liters and a capacity of more than 300 horses.
Both the MDX crossover and TLX sedan are due to be officially unveiled in the coming months and go on sale as new to the 2021 model year.
