The UK car market moves to growth for the first time in 2020August 23, 2020
The most popular cars among the British are German brands.
Experts cited data on sales of new cars in the UK for July 2020. The sales volume reached 174,887 cars, which was quite an impressive result, since it was the British car market that experienced the greatest difficulties due to the coronavirus epidemic. Compared to July 2019, sales growth was 11.3%. This result is largely due to the fact that it was in July that all dealerships in the country were fully operational.
American Ford became the leader among brands with 18 814 units. (+ 10.4%). The rest of the TOP-5 positions were occupied exclusively by German brands. The second line goes to Volkswagen with a result of 15,617 cars sold and an increase in demand by 2.9%. “Bronze” of the rating goes to Audi – dealers of the brand were able to sell 12,017 cars (+ 16.4%). The fourth place is occupied by BMW, 11 446 residents of Great Britain stopped their choice on cars of this brand. It was BMW that showed the best dynamics among the leaders – plus 24.4%.
The TOP-5 is closed by Mercedes-Benz with the result of 10,254 units, which is the only one among the leaders who showed negative dynamics – “minus” 15%.
In the first seven months of this year, 828 389 new cars were sold in the UK, which is 41.9% worse than the result of 2019 for the same period.
