The tests saw a prototype of the updated Fiat Tipo in the Cross versionJune 3, 2020
Western journalists captured the camouflaged prototype of the Italian hatchback Fiat Tipo in a more off-road version of Cross. The start of sales of new items will take place before the end of this year.
On those “spy” pictures that came to our editorial office a couple of minutes ago, a camouflaged prototype of an Italian novelty is captured. It is reported that this is not just an updated Fiat Tipo in the hatchback, but its more off-road version, which will be designated Cross. The test car, which was seen on public roads in Italy, received several visual modifications, including wider plastic wheel arches, more pronounced plastic-coated bumpers, and possibly more off-road tires.
Fiat Tipo is one of the most affordable models in the European C-segment, and the potential Fiat Tipo Cross could be the most inexpensive alternative to many crossovers.
Do not expect the all-wheel drive hatchback in the new version, but you can count on increased ground clearance and, possibly, a special driving mode for better grip on snow and mud, but nothing more.
Currently, Fiat Tipo is offered with a choice of a 1.4-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 95 horsepower and two “diesels” of 1.3 and 1.6 liters with a capacity of 95 and 120 hp respectively. We do not expect that the motor gamut of the new product may change – the motors can be slightly modernized to better comply with existing emission standards.
