The tests saw a prototype of the powerful VW Arteon RFebruary 27, 2020
The German brand will present the high-performance novelty VW Arteon R in fastback and station wagon bodies, the presentation of the latter should take place at the beginning of next year, well, and the fastback will be shown at the end of 2020.
Volkswagen plans to expand its lineup of high-performance R Performance models early next year with the launch of the new Arteon flagship. We are talking about the Arteon Shooting Brake – this is how German marketers call the wagon body type. But first, we will be shown a more powerful version of the usual Arteon R – this should happen before the end of this year.
The new Shooting Brake will have a longer roof and a sloping rear door, which, according to VW representatives, gives the car “universal qualities, while maintaining its aggressive appearance”.
Power will come from a 2.0-liter turbocharged VW that will be equipped with the Golf R’s “charged” hatchback. The current 2.0-liter TSI engine that equips the regular Arteon version produces 268 horsepower.
Some publications report that the novelty motor can develop up to 325 hp. (450 Nm) of power and will work with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive. This new information contradicts the old rumors that the Arteon R fastback will use a new version of the turbocharged 3.0-liter VR6 engine, which will produce 404 hp.
