The tests saw a prototype of the powerful coupe Mercedes-AMG GT R BlackAugust 22, 2019
According to rumors, the German novelty will receive a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a capacity of more than 700 hp. The start of sales is scheduled for next year.
The German supercar AMG GT is presented in a large number of different versions – AMG GT S, AMG GT C, AMG GT R and limited edition AMG GT R Pro. Also, almost all of these versions (except for the GT R Pro) are offered in the body of a roadster. In 2020, this number will be increased, as the guys from the prestigious brand plan to introduce an even more powerful version of the model, which will be nicknamed the Black Series, which was last used for the 2014 high-performance SLS AMG GT Black Series.
The prototype hardcore coupe passed test races somewhere in southern Europe, where foreign journalists filmed it. Although the car is camouflaged, you can already notice the new hood design, much more aggressive than the GT R, in addition, the new Black Series has giant air vents on the hood, hinting at a more powerful engine that requires additional cooling.
If earlier, Mercedes-AMG specialists used a 4.0-liter V8 with two turbines for the production of 577 horsepower, then for the new product (until this information is confirmed) this number will be increased to 700+ hp.
At the end of April this year, a document was published on the purchased car – the Mercedes-AMG GT R Black Series, where it was said about such great performance.
In addition, the foreign edition of Motor Trend published an article back in November 2018, hinting at the use of such power. AMG boss Tobias Moers said the new Black Series will compete with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and McLaren 720S, which have 700 hp. and 710 hp respectively.
The start of sales of new items is scheduled for 2020. Nothing is known about the prices of the Black Series yet. But it is obvious that the new product will cost more than $ 200 645, for which the Mercedes-AMG GT in the R Pro version is offered.
