The tests saw a prototype high-performance Volkswagen Golf R 2022July 1, 2020
The German brand is apparently completing the tests of the “charged” hatchback Volkswagen Golf R 2022 model year. The novelty looks almost ready for debut.
The engineering team of the German brand is hardly trying to hide from the prying eyes the appearance of this Volkswagen Golf R. Apart from a few tiny camouflage elements, nothing hides the updated exterior. These pictures also offer a peek inside the cabin.
The new generation high-performance Golf R hatchback received an aggressive front bumper with three air intake holes and diagonal struts separating them. Take a closer look at these pictures and you can see thin masking films. Do not expect that the final design of the new product will be too different from what you see here, but still …
The “hot” German novelty has rims with an asymmetric spoke design. Behind them you can see drilled brake discs and large blue calipers.
On the roof there is a small rear wing. Two oval-shaped outlet openings on each side of the diffuser.
The interior looks very similar to the top versions of the standard Golf. Engineers poorly camouflage the R logo on seats that receive extensive lateral support. Also, it looks like there is Alcantara on the door panels.
According to rumors, the new Golf R will receive a 329-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that works through a dual-clutch gearbox.
VW plans to introduce the Golf R by the end of the year. Given the lack of camouflage on this prototype, the debut may happen very soon.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that photos of the new generation of the VW Golf Variant station wagon appeared on the Web. Western publications published photos from the tests of the brand new VW Golf Variant. The car received camouflage only in the taillights.
