The survey showed what the range of the electric car need an ordinary driverApril 18, 2019
According to a study ordered by Mini, most drivers will enjoy relatively low mileage. Thus, 73% of respondents believe that electric vehicles with a range of up to 120 km will be sufficient for daily use. In addition, 63% of respondents said that the electric car is the best solution for commuting around the city and daily commuting to and from work.
The survey was conducted in the UK. It was attended by 1004 people: equally men and women.
Interestingly, the automakers decided to play it safe in the issue of the range. In recent years, they have improved the battery to increase the range of up to 320 km and confidently move to a further increase. However, Audi was recently criticized after it turned out that the e-tron, according to the EPA, is only 330 km.
Mini is in the process of working on a three-door electric car. He is expected to get a 42.2 kWh battery, which the BMW i3 also uses. The range is expected to be 120 km, which is significantly less than that of competitors of similar size: Nissan Leaf, Tesla Model 3 and Chevrolet Bolt.
