The sound system of cars of the future can be improved remotely
January 30, 2020 Manufacturers can quickly implement US Harman’s OTA sound tuning with software.
The ability to improve the sound system of a car by simply downloading new software can become a reality. Buying high-quality audio at a later stage is the brainchild of the American company Harman, which has a significant presence in the automotive industry thanks to the brands Harman Kardon, JBL, Mark Levinson and Bang & Olufsen. This seemingly impossible task, which was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in the United States, will be made possible by the distribution of software updates over wireless networks.
Harman’s goal is to install slightly more advanced speakers and more powerful processors in models sold with the base car, and then convince the customer to buy new equipment from any audio system manufacturer that they prefer.
