The smallest Mercedes-AMG A 35 on Paris Motor ShowOctober 2, 2018
Mercedes-Benz introduced the first AMG version of the fourth-generation A-Class hatchback, which received the A35 index. The public premiere of the car took place at the Paris Motor Show.
The novelty differs from the standard A-Class with a more aggressive grille with a proprietary “double blade”, wheel disks of a different design, as well as an aerodynamic body kit including side skirts, a rear spoiler and a diffuser.
Mercedes-AMG A35 equipped with a new two-liter four-cylinder inflatable engine, developing 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. In the construction of the unit used aluminum crankcase, conical cylinders and upgraded twin-scroll turbochargers with reduced overpressure. In addition, engineers from Affalterbach reprogrammed the system of variable valve timing, and modernized exhaust.
The unit is paired with a seven-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches and all-wheel drive system. The Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic, which has the Race Start quick start function, is capable of accelerating from the spot to the first 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and its maximum speed is forcibly limited by electronics 250 km per hour.

The control electronics provides five driver modes: Slippery, also Comfort, Sport, Sport + and Individual. The first is designed for safe driving on slippery roads – electronics reduces power and torque, and also puts the gearbox into early switching mode.
European sales of the Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic will begin in January 2019. Subsequently, the line of “charged” A-Class will be replenished with more hardcore versions A45 and A45 S. According to preliminary data, the latter will receive a two-liter turbo four, which will be paired with a 38-volt on-board electrical grid. The total output of the units should exceed 400 horsepower.
