The Skoda Kodiaq GT cross coupe will be sold in EuropeNovember 6, 2017
The new Skoda will be the first in Europe mid-size SUV coupe outside the premium segment of the market.
Initially, the upcoming novelty is planned – the Skoda Kodiaq GT cross coupe will be sold on the European market immediately after release. This is reported by Autocar with reference to the CEO of Skoda Bernhard Mayer.
The reaction of European potential buyers surpassed the expectations of the Czech manufacturer, which initially decided to position its first crossover coupe only as a model for the Chinese market. The target date for the launch of this novelty in China is mid-2018. Recently even declassified slides from the Chinese brand presentation, where the cross-coupe is listed as Skoda Kodiaq GT. The Czechs have decided to give this sport a new name.
“Customers expressed great interest. The world-wide production of this novelty is now part of our plan. We expect the Volkswagen Group to find this opportunity this year, but no funds have yet been found, “said Skoda CEO Bernhard Meyer.
Kodiaq GT will check the strength of the ambitions and capabilities of the Czech car brand. If it comes out in Europe, it will face rival competition – the future Seat Coupé coupe that will be introduced in 2020 as one of the first models of the Cupra sub-brand.
