The serial premium hatchback Tata will not be like its forerunnerAugust 11, 2018
The Indian company brought to test a new five-door hatchback. To the dealers, the model will be delivered next year.
In February 2018, Tata introduced the concept hatch 45X at the Delhi Motor Show. In March, the prototype was also shown in the Geneva Motor Show. Now there were photos of the serial embodiment of the concept, they were published by the Indian edition of Autocar. Judging by the pictures, the outwardly the commercial vehicle will differ substantially from the precursor.
The length of the conveyor version of the 45X will not exceed four meters (such cars in India are tax-exempt), while in the concept this figure is 4 253 mm. The forage of the serial hatch is tucked up. In the cabin – an analog “assembly” instead of a virtual prototype, as well as a hatch received a multimedia system with a touch screen that rises above the panel.
Hatchback Tata is built on the new modular platform AMP (Advanced Modular Platform) of the company’s own development. According to preliminary data, the engines of the serial hatchback will get from the compact SUV Tata Nexon (it is based on another platform). It’s about the petrol turbo 1.2 Revotron and turbodiesel 1.5 Revotorq. Local media believe that for the hatch power of the engines will increase. At crossover both engines give out 110 hp, the maximum twisting moment of the petrol motor makes 170 Nanometers, a diesel engine – 260 Nanometers. SUV Nexon is available with a six-speed manual or robotic transmission.
In India, sales of the new Tata hatchback start in the second half of next year. There, the model will compete with Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20 – these hatches in the Indian market are considered prestigious cars. Hatch Tata will also be positioned as a local premium.
By the way, in February, together with 45Х company Tata has shown one more novelty – conceptual crossover H5X. The serial version of the SUV will go on sale in early 2019 under the name Harrier, the basis for the “SUV” is the platform from Land Rover Discovery Sport (Tata owns the firm Jaguar Land Rover). Unlike hatch, the commodity cross does not look so different from the prototype.
