The season of 2019 is officially open!March 13, 2019
The Australian Grand Prix organizers, together with Liberty Media, held a colorful opening ceremony for the new season in Melbourne.
The ceremony was led by former Formula 1 driver Mark Webber and Jessica Yates. On the stage set on Federation Square in the city center, the championship leaders and riders of all ten teams rose to the applause of numerous spectators, talking about their goals and objectives in 2019.
Lewis Hamilton: “I did not expect to see so many viewers on the show! Hello to all! I was lucky: in the offseason, I did so much that I wanted, and also actively trained and prepared for the season, because there are a lot of races ahead. If so many fans have come to today’s show, it means that we will have a great weekend.
I arrived in Melbourne a few days ago. I really like this city – it is very beautiful here! Now it’s cool – earlier at that time it was warmer. Melbourne is a great city, it has a great atmosphere, and it gets even better by the end of the week. ”
Kimi Raikkonen, Alfa Romeo: “After the tests it is difficult to judge the balance of power. For our part, we will do everything in our power. The results are solid, we can assume that we are waiting for a tense struggle. It feels like we have a good car, but whether it will be enough and on what positions we will find ourselves is not yet known. ”
Daniel Kvyat, Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing: “Last year I missed the stage in Melbourne, so I am glad to return! It is always nice when a lot of viewers come to the first race of the season. I hope the team is waiting for a successful weekend. Thanks to everyone who shares our passion for Formula 1 – we love you and thank you for your support! “
Max Verstappen, Red Bull Racing: “It’s nice to see so many fans. I look forward to when the red lights of traffic lights go out on Sunday and we will start the race. It was nice to get some rest this winter, but I really wanted to get back behind the wheel. It’s great that this moment has come. ”
Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing: “This year we are starting a promising partnership with Honda. The tests in Barcelona were positive, but you need to remain realistic. The backlog from Mercedes and Ferrari was quite large, but we are confident that this year we will be able to play it. We have an excellent composition of pilots and a strong team – I look forward to the start of the season. ”
