The sculpture of Mercedes-Benz will tell about the electric supercarJuly 5, 2018
The company Mercedes-Benz presented a sculpture of a single-seat supercar made in the style of aerodynamic cars of the 30s. It demonstrates the proportions and overall design of the electric prototype, whose public debut will take place in August at the Pebble Beach Elegance Competition.
The sculpture design called Aesthetics Progressive Luxury was developed with a look at the experimental Mercedes-Benz W125 Rekordwagen. In this car, the German racing driver Rudolf Caracciola in January 1938 set a speed record: on the highway between Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt, he accelerated to 432.7 kilometers per hour.
According to preliminary information, the prototype, which will be built in a single copy, will become the image flagship of the electric sub-brand EQ. At the same time the power of the power unit of the supercar will be higher than that of the green coupe of SLS AMG Electric Drive.
The latter was equipped with four electric motors with a total capacity of 751 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. The first 100 km/h coupe was accelerate in 3.9 seconds. The maximum speed of the electric car was 250 kilometers per hour.
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive sold less than 100 copies. The price of the model in Germany was 416 500 euros.
In January of last year, Mercedes-Benz demonstrated the direction of the brand design development using the sculpture Aesthetics A. One of the main features of the new Mercedes style was the large grille with vertical bars, called Panamericana, and the hood with longitudinal punchings.
