The road was laid between floors: what it looks likeAugust 26, 2020
For almost three decades in Japan there has been a unique infrastructural structure, which is known all over the world. This is a highway that runs right between the floors of a skyscraper.
In the early 1990s, a Japanese investor wanted to build a skyscraper in Osaka. However, he was worried about the passage of the highway in the place where he wanted to erect the building. The entrepreneur asked if it was possible to buy land and build a road under the skyscraper, but this idea failed. However, over time, a solution was found, and it turned out to be very original.
The idea was as follows: the exit from the highway will be built so that it passes through the skyscraper, between the 5th and 7th floors. And already in 1992, the Gate Tower Building with a unique tunnel was opened. The building has 16 floors above ground and two floors of underground paring. The elevator connects the floors with offices and garages, and it does not stop from the 5th to the 7th floor.
The track passing through the building is protected by a special structure that reduces noise and vibration. This structure has become a kind of tourist attraction in Osaka. How it looks can be seen in the video below.
