The revived Jaguar XK sports coupe shown on renderingsMay 24, 2020
It has been quite a while since Jaguar abandoned the XK sports coupe. The model first appeared in 1996 in Geneva and lived for almost 20 years, replacing two generations. The last of its kind was written by the great Jan Callum, who was responsible for the design revolution in the British brand line.
Two years ago, a message appeared that Jaguar allegedly returned the XK coupe as a four-seater Jaguar F-Type, presumably no later than 2021. Reportedly, it will be based on the new F-Type platform, but with additional back space for a 2 + 2 configuration. The new F-Type debuted towards the end of last year, but Jaguar is still silent about the possible return of XK.
But this does not prevent independent designer Nicholas Kavero, known on Instagram, from rethinking the alleged third-generation Jaguar XK. After reporting in 2018, Kavero used the F-Type style to visualize what, in his opinion, the new generation XK would look like.
The coupe can get slim headlights and a sleek profile. Of course, the body is slightly longer than the F-Type to accommodate the rear seats. However, this rendering resembles Aston Martin cars.
As already mentioned, Jaguar has not disclosed any details about the return of the XK, but you can expect some important details about the sports coupe based on the new F-Type. Three engine options should be available from Jaguar, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter previous-generation V6 supercharged, as well as an improved 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The latter produces 444 horsepower and 580 Newton meters of torque, available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
