The reasons for the low demand for electric cars have become knownJune 28, 2020
To determine them, automotive experts analyzed the market for buying and renting cars.
Despite the rapid development of the electric machine industry, most buyers continue to give preference to cars with classic internal combustion engines. Moreover, this trend is observed even in Europe, where the infrastructure is at a high level, and cars with diesel engines are gradually being banned. Süddeutsche Zeitung experts have analyzed what might be causing this trend.
One reason is the high cost of electric cars. Despite their widespread development, manufacturers are not yet ready to reduce the price of electric cars to the cost of cars with classic internal combustion engines. To determine the second reason, a study was conducted called “Mobility in Germany.”
According to its results, it became clear what type of transport the inhabitants of Germany preferred when using car sharing services. As a result, it turned out that the number of trips was approximately the same, but their duration was significantly different. Electric cars on average traveled a much shorter distance than gasoline ones.
Based on this, it can be concluded that due to a lack of infrastructure, people are afraid to remain without charging the battery in the middle of the way.
The third, but not the most basic reason, is the habit – to date, electric cars have not yet gained great popularity. Therefore, many are ready to make a trip on a rental electric car, but there is no way to purchase it.
In the meantime, the new Skoda Octavia received a bi-fuel version. Such a car will amaze owners with its efficiency, and it is a question of both gas and gasoline.
