At the Bring a Trailer auction in the United States, a red Acura NSX sports car in a rare 1999 Zanardi Edition was put up for sale. In total, 51 limited editions rolled off the assembly line. The cost of the model, which belonged to motorcycle racer Miguel Duhamel, is $ 215,000.
A limited edition Acura NSX (in European countries, the model is known under the brand name Honda NSX) Zanardi Edition was introduced in 1999. The special series was released in honor of the two-time champion of the CART racing series – an analogue of Formula 1 – Alex Zanardi. The Italian pilot was the best in 1997 and 1998. In total, 51 exclusive red models came off the assembly line of the Japanese brand. Of these, the concern handed over 49 sports cars to dealerships, one car was presented to an Italian racer, and the last one was left in the company’s press park.
The sports car in the performance of the Zanardi Edition differs from the standard modification by its lighter weight by 68 kilograms, a hard roof and the absence of an electric power steering. In addition, the limited edition was equipped with light BBS wheels, a rear spoiler, as well as an aluminum nameplate with the driver’s autograph and the car’s serial number.
The interior of the sports car is equipped with an audio system, air conditioning, as well as leather and Alcantara electric seats. The gearbox selector was made of titanium. Under the hood of the special series is installed the standard for Acura NSX 3.2-liter V6 with a capacity of 294 horsepower (303 Nm). The unit works in tandem with a six-speed manual transmission.
In 1999, the Acura NSX Zanardi Edition was priced at $ 85,000. For 21 years, Miguel Duhamel drove only 19,300 kilometers in a sports car. Now you can buy a rare car in perfect condition for $ 215,000.
In mid-July, a red 1993 Honda NSX Type R sports car in perfect condition was put up for sale in Miami. For a car with a mileage of 50,000 kilometers they asked for $ 285,000.
