Land Rover brought to the test an extended modification of the crossover

Eyewitnesses managed to photograph the pre-production prototype of the long-range Range Rover Evoque. Although the body of the novelty is hidden by a colorful camouflage film, the enlarged rear door gives a version with an additional insert. Probably, the Evoque LWB will offer a seven-seater saloon and will compete with the new Mercedes-Benz GLB.

There is no doubt in the upcoming debut of the long-range compact crossover Range Rover, because in the first-generation Evoque range there was a three-door version, and even a convertible. Judging by the spy photos, the proportions of the new off-road vehicle will change slightly: the elongated Evoque will feature an enlarged rear door, and the additional insert is unlikely to be longer than 100 millimeters.

For Land Rover, the decision to increase the wheelbase for the passenger compartment is not new: in 2014, the long-range Range Rover Long debuted, for the first time combining the comfort of a luxury sedan with an SUV form factor. In the compact premium crossover segment, there are no elongated models, and the only one that offers a three-row interior is the Mercedes-Benz GLB.

Probably, the variability of the wheelbase will be an additional advantage of the Range Rover Evoque, and by analogy with the Range Rover Long, the “long” body can be combined with different power units and trim levels.

The premiere of the Range Rover Evoque LWB is unlikely to coincide with the planned update, because the life cycle of the second generation crossover has just begun. It is expected that the debut of the more capacious Evoque will take place at the end of 2020 or at the beginning of 2021.
