The prototype of the updated crossover BMW X5 M seen at the NurburgringJune 6, 2019
According to rumors, the long-awaited Bavarian novelty boasts 600 horsepower. In the case of Competition modification, this figure will be increased to 617 hp.
This is only the beginning of June, and BMW engineers have already released four full-fledged “charged” models: X3 M and X4 M crossovers, as well as the M8 Coupe and M8 Convertible (convertible). All of them have a more powerful version of Competition and additional parts from M Performance. Apparently, before the end of this year, we will see at least two more models. One of them will certainly be a brand new M3 sedan, while the other is expected to be the X5 M crossover.
Earlier this week, several heavily camouflaged prototypes of the Bavarian novelty were seen on the Nurburgring race track. It is reported that brand engineers put the final touches on a high-performance crossover.
It’s hard to know for sure whether the prototype seen is a regular X5 M or an enhanced version of Competition, but we are definitely looking at a medium-sized crossover that develops at least 600 horsepower. Performed by Competition, the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 develops an astounding 617 hp.
We must say that this X5 M is very agile driving around the track, given its size and weight. The dynamic characteristics of the X5 M are not yet known, but according to rumors, it will take a little more than 3.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h. The new X5 M will join the recently announced 525-strong X5 M50i, becoming the most powerful car in the model family. It will be significantly more expensive than 82,150 dollars.
