The prototype of the new Mercedes-Benz CLA seen on testsAugust 18, 2018
Despite the fact that the German automaker recently introduced a new member of the A-Class family, which is positioned as the company’s most affordable car, the CLA sedan will continue to be manufactured. Previously, there were rumors that the Mercedes-Benz CLA family might disappear altogether.
Despite the fact that today more and more popularity is gained by crossovers and off-road vehicles, the leadership of the German brand Mercedes-Benz is not going to abandon its classic models – sedans.
Let’s remind our readers that some time ago the A-Class sedan was presented, which not only became a new member of the compact family, but also the most affordable car of the German automaker. Well and now experts of the company are engaged in testing of the new (2nd on the account) generation of 4-door coupe/shooting brake CLA.
Several test prototypes of CLA of the next generation were noticed by journalists on the Nürburgring track (Germany). Cars pretty quickly passed the turn around the bend, we can say that the drivers did not regret these cars.
Despite the abundant disguise, it is fairly easy to see that the new CLA will retain its proprietary form and will differ from the A-Class sedan by a more inclined roofline. Most likely, this will have a detrimental effect on the amount of space in the trunk. It is noteworthy that one of the prototypes installed the old headlights, while the other received LED analogs. It is expected that the new CLA will be slightly larger in size, and the composition of the engine range and a set of technologies will be borrowed from the sedan A-Class.
Recent “spyware” shots showed that Mercedes is testing the high-performance version of the CLA 45 already in its entirety. The car will use the newly developed 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and the new 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The power will make 400 hp.
Finally, we note that it is unlikely that the premiere Mercedes CLA will be held before 2019, it is possible that this could happen in 2020. It is known that the charged Mercedes-AMG CLA35 will be shown this year. A more powerful CLA45 a little later.
Not so long ago, we wrote that in Switzerland, diesel cars Mercedes-Benz and Porsche were banned.
